With the field in the World Series of Poker Main Event dwindling, Danish Pro Theo Jorgensen and Michael “The Grinder” Mizrachi find themselves at the top of the chip leaders.
Less than 80 players remain from the original pool of more than 7,200 poker hopefuls.
The day was an eventful one. After two-time champ Johnny Chan was eliminated early on, Mizrachi seemed to step up and take his place as fan favorite. He moved from 30th place at the end of day 6.
Day 7 will play down to 27 and the player knocked out near the end will walk away with $255,242. Every player still alive has their sights set on the $8.9 million first prize; however a more than $250,000 prize will fill any one’s pocketbook quite nicely.
At this point, everyone in the field is guaranteed as least $94,942.
The current chip leader, Jorgensen is trying to become Denmark’s second player in three years to win the Main Event, after Peter Eastgate won in 2008.
