Monday in Madrid, Spain came together as a nation as hundreds of thousands jubilant fans celebrated the country’s World Cup victory after beating the Netherlands 1-0 in the finals.
With all the World Cup hype beginning to wind down, sportsbooks are still trying to cash in on the public’s interest while they still can.
Some web-based betting portals have even begun to post odds on the next World Cup in 2014 as well as who will be the 2018 host country.
All across the Internet, it seems to be the general consensus that the host country of Brazil is the odds on favorite to win in 2014. The line seems to be fluctuating a bit depending on which site you are looking at, but generally Brazil is sitting at about 3/1 to win it all in 2014.
Spain is near the top of the list of favorites at about 5/1 and Argentina is at 6/1. The Netherlands, this years runner-up, is at 14/1 to take the next step and win it all.
Other online sites have posted odds on which country will win the bid to host the 2018 World Cup. Paddypower.com has England as the front-runner. Old Blighty is being called a 5/4 favorite, while Russia and Spain are at 2/1 and 3/1 respectively.
