According to reports coming out of Los Angeles, the Dodgers’ legendary broadcaster, Vin Scully, will be returning to the booth for the 2011 MLB season.
After rumors that Scully would call it quits after this season, apparently, he just could not let go.
“I just love it so much,” he said. “It’s like a very good marriage. I found when push came to shove, I just did not want to leave. My wife understood it, God bless her.”
Scully will continue to call the Dodgers’ home games and road games against division opponents.
The 82 year old Scully, grew up in Brooklyn as a New York Giants fan; however, his love affair with the Dodgers began in 1950 when he landed his first broadcasting job with New York’s cross-town rival.
The news of Scully sticking around has become big news in the world of Major League Baseball, much to his chagrin.
“First of all, I’m totally embarrassed,” Scully said of the extra media coverage. “This is the last thing I wanted. I see all of you every day, and it’s nice to see you every day, but I’m very, very embarrassed. I was hoping it would be a little line in the notes sheet before the game.”
