With only two days left in the Legislative session, Massachusetts lawmakers continue to hash out differences on a proposed gambling expansion bill.
The House and Senate has spent weeks trying to reach a compromise between the two bills and final legislation is coming down to the wire with a vote needed tomorrow, in order to have Saturday to rework the final bill if the Governor veto’s it.
However after a meeting in the state house today, Governor Deval Patrick expressed his disappointment that a compromise has not been reached and other critical bills have not been passed. Patrick said that while he still does not sport slot machines at the state’s horse racing tracks he was willing to concede to one racino if legislatures passed six other bills before the session ended.
House speaker DeLeo says that substantial progress has been made on all fronts, however the latest compromise on the casino bill stands at two racinos and three resort style casinos.
