According to police, a man who won big at a Southern California casino was robbed and murdered after apparently being followed from the gambling hall.
Law enforcement officials said that Chi Ngoc Bui, the 55-year-old victim, won several thousand dollars at the Hawaiian Gardens Casino early Friday and was later killed by another man attempting to rob him.
A witness told police that Bui was followed from the casino and cut off in Santa Anna. Then Bui and the driver of the other vehicle got into an altercation.
A fight ensued after the suspect demanded Bui’s winnings and he tried to flee on foot, the would-be robber turned killer ran him over.
At this time, police were unable to determine whether or not their witness could identify the suspect.
The casino said that Bui won several thousand dollars after an evening of gambling.
It is unclear exactly how much money Bui left the casino with and how much was taken from him before he was killed; however, police found several $20 bill at the scene.
