World Series of Poker event 48 is in the books and a relatively unknown Norwegian has come away with the victory. Sigurd Eskeland, a former teacher from Oslo, Norway has won his first bracelet in the tournament which featured an eight-game mix.
With the win, Eskeland became just the third Norwegian player to wear a WSOP bracelet. Only Annette Obrestad and Thor Hansen has done it before.
The format, which had a $2,500 buy-in and a field of 453 players. The mixed tournament featured eight games with the game changing every eight hands.
Going into the final day of the event, Eskeland was able stave off the likes of Scott Seiver, Todd Brunson and Alexander Kravchenko, just to name a few, to shock the field.
“It’s the most unbelievable feeling I have ever had in my whole life,” said Eskeland. “The only thing that can compare to it is the birth of my two daughters. But this is insane, the most amazing thing that has ever happened to me.”
Over his professional career, which began in 2006, Eskeland has totaled a little over $302,000.
The event 48 victory earned him $260,497.
