With Barney Frank’s bill making its way through congress to legalize, tax and regulate online casinos, internet gaming companies have begun buying up weaker companies to position themselves to take control of what many industry experts anticipate to be a booming market.
In the latest deal to be announced, New York based Scientific Games, known for providing tickets and software to state lotteries including Massachusetts, Arkansas, Michigan, Minnesota, and Tennessee has purchased Massachusetts based internet marketing firm GameLogic.
GameLogic is known for its marketing and promotion services that allow land based casinos to cater to gamblers through the internet. GameLogic offers legal online casino games under the PlayAway brand. Players can wager on PlayAway games online by purchasing and redeeming online credits through land based casinos that have partnered with the firm.
While financial details were not disclosed in the announcement, Scientific Games also acquired several employees from the development and marketing branches of GameLogic.
