The Nevada Gaming Control Board is permitting Global Cash Access Holdings to test new technology that will allow casino gamblers a safer way to access their money.
The newly developed QuickTicket will allow cash access ATM systems to print a ticket that can be used in slot machines or redeemed for cash at the cage. The developer Global Cash Access Holdings is marketing the product as a safer means of handling cash for both the casino patron and the gaming property. QuickTicket also supports a self exclusion program that will prevent registered patrons to exclude themselves from being able to redeem their cash through the system.
Gaming regulators must first approve new systems to be used in the state’s casinos and then following a successful testing period will permit casinos to implement and purchase the new program.
The program is still pending approval from major credit card companies including MasterCard and Visa before a beta test site can be selected, upon final approval QuickTicket will also seek approval from other gaming jurisdictions.
“Today’s consumer is accustomed to cashless transactions, as evidenced by the increasing use of debit and credit cards in all areas, and we believe this technology represents the next step in the evolution of cashless gaming.” commented Scott Betts, president and chief executive officer of GCA.
