On Friday the British Columbia Lottery Corporation (BCLC) launched North America’s first regulated online casino.
However, just hours after its introduction, the site run by PlayNow.com was shut down. Now, after five days of unavailability, customers are thinking the worst.
BCLC originally claimed that the site would be temporarily offline because it could not handle the sheer volume of visitors.
Almost a week later, the site is still down.
The lottery is now saying that their site experienced some security issues that caused some players to log on and get into other people’s accounts.
Apparently, what they are now calling a slight glitch caused more than 100 customers to be able to see personal information about other account holders.
Some speculated that the site had been “hacked,” however the BCLC said that there was no evidence of that.
Even though the lottery said that customer credit card information was not revealed over the Internet, many would-be players may be thinking twice about playing on the site.
