The world of poker is taking to the high seas as Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines, HeadsUp Entertainment International and operators of the Canadian Poker Tour have announced another poker cruise.
According to the agreement, Royal Caribbean will host what will be billed as a Poker Super Cruise on the “Freedom of the Seas.”
Due to the extraordinary success of a previous poker cruise held back in April, this event, slated to be launched March 23, 2011, is expected to be expanded to 2 weeks sailing first to the Eastern Caribbean and then to the Western Caribbean.
“The expansion of the poker vacation market has become a major focus for the Company as revenues are maximized in this event structure,” says HeadsUp President and CEO Kelly B. Kellner. “The event earlier this year was testament to a growing demand in the Canadian and international marketplace.”
Tournament fees and cash game rake revenue is expected to exceed $2 million over the 2 week period, with net earnings approaching $1.2 million.
HeadsUp also says that a major television deal is being currently worked out to air the event. Their accountants and financial advisers estimate sponsorship revenue to increase dramatically.
