Online gambling software provider Playtech has said that they have entered into discussions with several U.S. casino operators interested in software agreements.
Playtech licenses their software to gambling operators but does not host internet casino sites which chief executive Mor Weizer says puts them in a better position than their competitors.
While no one is certain just when the U.S will enact legislation that permits internet gambling within America’s borders, in July the House Financial Services Committee took a step in that direction when approving a measure to regulate and legalize online casinos.
Playtech is confident that by licensing their software directly to gaming companies they will be able to form partnerships with U.S. gambling operators faster and easier given the fact that many believe local operators will dominate the market. Wording in the measure that will come before Legislatures call for all online casino operators to operate a majority of their business from within the U.S.
Playtech has already formed several partnerships with local companies including a joint venture with New York based Scientific Games Corp.
