These days, $11 million can buy you countless of days doing a whole lot of nothing. At least that is what professional poker player Peter Eastgate is thinking.
The 24 year old Danish card player told The Associated Press that he is giving up the game of high-stakes poker to do nothing in particular.
“I was bored of the game, lacking motivation, did not need the money any more so saw no point in continuing,” said Eastgate. ”In case I return, it will be because I need an income again or because I am bored doing nothing.”
Eastgate broke onto the poker scene in 2008 when he won the Main Event at the World Series of Poker. At the time, he was the youngest player ever to win the event.
Over his professional career, Eastgate has won more than $11.3 million including the $9.1 million win in the 2008 Main Event.
Last year, Eastgate defended his Main Event title and lasted until day 6 before he was eliminated in 78th place. That finish earned win a little under $69,000.
