There is more bad news for Atlantic City as the Parx Casino in Bensalem, PA unveiled table games over the weekend. On Sunday, crowds gathered around 39 blackjack, five roulette, five three-card poker, four craps and four mini-baccarat tables in the Philadelphia suburbs’ casino.
The state of Pennsylvania is now a full-fledged gaming playground as table games rolled out in casinos all over the state in the last week and a half.
The Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs in Wilkes-Barre, the Mount Airy Resort Casino in the Poconos, and Hollywood Casino near Harrisburg all introduced table gaming on Tuesday and three more venues in Western PA began offering table games on July 8th.
Experts believe that the addition of table games in Pennsylvania, especially in the Philly area, will seriously cut into profits at Atlantic City casinos. They appear to be correct.
“There’s absolutely no reason to go to Atlantic City to gamble anymore,” said Tony Volpe, truck driver from Upper Darby. “When I drive down to A.C., I’m already $60 in the hole between the gas and tolls.”
Many feel that Atlantic City will lose millions in revenue from table games in Pennsylvania.
