The man with the unmistakable voice and the colorful suspenders is calling it quits after more than 50 years in broadcasting. CNN’s Larry King, age 76, has said in a statement that his show, “Larry King Live” will go off the air this fall after 25 years.
King’s contract with the Cable News Network is up in June of 2011.
It is being reported that King will stay on, in a part-time capacity to host specials on what the network is calling, “major national and international subjects.”
With the news of his retirement, speculation has begun to swirl as to who will take over his spot on the CNN team.
Online casinos and bookmakers are all over the subject. Many have already posted odds on who will be King’s replacement.
One name that seems to be the odds on favorite is, Britain’s Piers Morgan. He is best know in the states as a judge on “America’s Got Talent.”
With rumor flying around the Internet that Morgan and CNN are already close to finalizing a deal, odds on the web-based gambling portal paddypower.com list him at 7 to 4. The website also lists names like Ryan Seacrest at 7 to 1, Katie Couric at 10 to 1 and Jay Leno at 80 to 1.
Bettors can even lay their money down on Kermit the Frog. Paddypower actually listed the Muppet character at 500 to 1.
