On July 1st, residents on New Hampshire will be able to play games of chance, online, through the state lottery’s website.
Gamblers will be able to choose from games like; baseball, super slots, speed bingo or New Hampshire poker and purchase tickets from their home computers.
While some view these kind of games as a form of online gambling that the state legislature opposes, the Lottery Commission describes the games as an internet version of a scratch-off ticket.
The lottery’s commissioner, Paul Holloway, feels that these games should not be labeled as a form of internet gaming because prizes must be claimed in stores and players cannot buy more chances online with their winnings.
“A lot of people are reluctant to stand in a store and scratch a ticket,” Holloway said.
In New Hampshire lottery players must be 18 years of age, however the commission say that their demographic is much higher.
These online scratch-offs are in place to target younger players that would be playing on their lap tops and or smart phones.
