Only a week after Pennsylvania gaming officials warned Parx Casino that they must do a better job deterring gamblers from leaving their children unattended in their vehicles, another arrest was made.
On Wednesday, Paul Vargas of Bensalem was arrested for allegedly leaving his two children in his car in the Parx Casino parking lot.
According to the police the two children ages 7 and 12 were left inside a running car for at least 10 minutes while their father played blackjack.
Casino patrons noticed the children in the car and alerted casino security who called the police.
Vargas was charged with two counts of Endangering the Welfare of a Child and the children were released to the custody of their grandparents.
This incident is the sixth time this summer that similar arrests were made. Last week the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board had harsh words for both the casino and the local police department and demanded that they be more proactive in preventing children left in these dangerous conditions.
