As the World Series of Poker Main Event continues to push forward in Las Vegas, one of the big stories thus far has to be the play of the four Mizrachi bothers.
Robert Mizrachi, a 31-year-old former poker dealer from South Florida, is in 144th place with 342,800 chips.
Robert’s little brothers Danny, Eric and Michael are hanging tough in the tournament as well. These four have outlasted some pretty big names in the poker world.
The Main Event started with a little over 7,300 participants and is now down to about 1,200, after day three. After a day off on Sunday, 2009 champion Joe Cada was eliminated yesterday along with 2003 champ Chris Moneymaker.
Some of the other big time players that the Mizrachi boys have been able out live in this years tourney are a veritable who’s-who in the poker community.
Daniel Negreanu, Phil Laak, Jennifer Harman and Erik Seidel were all ousted by the time day three was over.
When it is all said and done, only the top 747 finishers will be paid and the top prize this year’s Main Event is $8.94 million.
Heading into today’s action, James Carroll from Henderson, Nevada is the chip leader with 803,000, but the legendary Johnny Chan is in ninth with his sites set on Carroll.
