With the crowing of the 2010 Miss Universe right around the corner; Las Vegas, Nevada is gearing up for a wild time as Sin City gets set to host what could be one of the most interesting pageants in recent history.
It is clear that the days of the sleek sophistication of former hosts like Bob Barker, Dick Clark and George Hamilton are now over as former Poison front man Bret Michaels was announced as one of this year’s co-hosts.
This year, fans will see changes in the usual conservative demeanor of the girls as well.
With many of the girls posing in just body paint, critics are likening them to Playboy Bunnies. This will be the first time ever, fans will see the ladies topless.
The added controversy has created a huge buzz around this years competition and odds makers are having a field day.
Nearly every casino on the Strip will have odds posted as to who will win this year’s crown.
Right now, it looks like Miss Philippines, Venus Raj is the odds on favorite at 6/1. Miss Mexico, Miss USA and Miss Ireland are others with short odds.
A name to watch for in the competition will certainly be Sarodj Bertin, Miss Haiti. After nearly a quarter century without representation, the island nation may be a sympathetic favorite after this year’s devastating earthquake ravaged the country.
