The British Columbia Government has had a tough month between the largely publicized failed attempt to launch online casino games on the BC Lottery Corp site, playnow and a pending lawsuit where voluntarily self excluded gambler, Joyce May Ross accused the company of breach of contract.
Ross claims that the program had failed to prevent her from entering the casinos and is seeking restitution for more than $300 thousand wagered and lost in area casinos, claiming that the program does not work.
Now another self excluded gambler has filed a lawsuit against the BC Lottery Corp.
Mike Lee of Vancouver is suing the Lottery for denying him a $42 thousand jackpot winning, after being verified as a self excluded gambler. However Lee says that while he signed up for the program in 2007 over the past three years he has entered casinos on a number of occasions and even collected smaller wins.
“If they are going to offer support to people and not provide the support offered, then it seems unconscionable to allow the casino, only at the time that the people win the jackpot, to deny them,” Lee’s attorney Joshua Weiszner said.
Lee claims that he was never notified of a change in the program that in 2009 made it legal for casinos to deny winnings from self excluded players.
