Isle of Capri Casinos is in negotiations to return to the Las Vegas Gaming Market following their exit in 2002 with the sale of its Lady Luck operation.
This week the Nevada Gaming Control Board recommended that gaming regulators grant Isle of Capri a casino license which would allow them to finalize a pending deal to purchase 0.01% of Fernley Pioneers LLC which operates a small casino outside of Reno.
Isle of Capri President Virginia McDowell told regulators that they were hopeful that they would be able to reach a deal to return to the Las Vegas locals market at some point.
“When the cycle turns, we’ll be ready to capitalize when the opportunity presents itself,” McDowell said. “We know the Nevada market.”
McDowell said that either through the purchase of a gaming property or management contracts they “believe the opportunity will eventually present itself”.
The Gaming Control Board will vote on the licensing matter at its September 16 meeting.
