Two Ohio casino projects have gotten a big-time backer as Harrah’s Entertainment will become part-owner and operator of Cincinnati’s and Cleveland’s downtown gambling halls.
On Thursday, a non-binding agreement was reached between the casino giant and Detroit-based Rock Gaming LLC intended to create a joint venture, with Harrah’s managing the casinos and Rock making the majority investment.
The casino business is really booming in Ohio as voters approved casinos in Toledo and Columbus as well. Penn National is heading up those plans.
Rock Ventures’ owner Dan Gilbert is excited about Harrah’s running his urban casino.
“Harrah’s top notch and innovative management team is completely aligned with our unwavering commitment to create and deliver projects that embrace and interact with the downtowns they serve,” said Gilbert.
He expects to see a huge boost in downtown business in both cities.
