Beginning on July 1st, a new era in Florida gaming is set to take shape as new state-approved gambling regulations go into effect.
Starting in July, no-limit poker will be legal at all of Florida’s 23 poker rooms.
These poker rooms are primarily based out of the state’s para-mutuels, horse tracks, dog tracks or jai-alai frontons.
However, Florida’s Indian gaming facilities have the right, as part of their compact agreement with Tallahassee, to match what pari-mutuel rooms do. So, it is expected that the seven Seminole poker rooms also will move up to no-limit.
There is no word yet from Miccosukee officials as to whether or not their casinos will follow suit.
Many casinos are gearing up for the big boys as sources are saying that poker room are getting an influx of calls from high rollers and even professionals.
Pros from thousands of miles away are thinking about setting up shop in South Florida.
“There’s a lot of money in South Florida and a lot of people who just want to play big and don’t really care if they win or lose,” said Seattle professional Rick Fuller.
