Earlier this month, the world’s largest social networking site, Facebook announced that they reached a huge milestone with more than 500 million users.
Now this Internet phenomenon is looking to double their numbers. The website, launched in February of 2004, has set a new goal to reach 1 billion.
With Facebook reaching new heights of popularity every day, its growth, at its current pace, could very well see its numbers reach the 1 billion mark before the end of next year.
The big question is; can this really happen? Could Facebook actually expand into the lives of one out of every seven persons on the planet?
Being such a popular subject these days, even odds makers are weighing in on their chances. Some online casinos and Internet gambling portals are posting odds, not on ”if” the social networking site will hit its mark; but “when.”
According to one of Europe’s most popular gaming sites, Paddypower.com, the favored time period for Facebook to reach 1 billion users is the first half of 2013. The website will pay out 2 to 1 if Facebook gets there between January and June of 2013.
They will even give 100 to 1 if Facebook can double its users before the end of 2010.
At this point, it is clear that Facebook has become a big part of life on planet Earth and will continue to grow.
