Mississippi may be close to getting a new casino, following today’s approval from the Greenville City Council.
City Council members have voted to bring a third casino to Greenville by authorizing the former Chicago Mills Property as the future home of the Delta Blues Casino.
Developers of the proposed casino are still waiting approval from the states Gaming Commission who is expected to begin reviewing the proposal in late September.
Developers of the Delta Blues Casino are proposing a riverboat operation on Lake Ferguson, estimating 16 to 18 months before gambling can begin at the $9 million casino.
Future plans will include expanding to a land based facility and adding a hotel, convention center and water park at the cost of approximately $39 million.
