The Illinois Gaming Board will begin conducting background checks and reviewing a deal announced this week between Delaware North and Jumer’s Casino & Hotel.
The companies announced on Thursday that they have finalized a deal that has been in negotiations since spring to purchase the two year old $150 million casino and hotel complex in downtown Rock Island.
Pending regulatory approval Delaware North will purchase the gaming property for $180 million and retain the resorts 560 employees, 1,100 slots, 24 table games and live poker operations.
“It just seemed to be a natural fit,” said Ron Sultemeier, vice president for strategic development for Delaware North’s gaming and entertainment division.
Delaware North said that they hoped to be able to close on the sale by the end of the year however a spokesman for the Gaming Board said that it is likely to take nine month to one year before approval can be granted.
Jumer said that the sale was not solicited but Delaware’s offer could not be turned down.
