The launch of table games in Pennsylvania has resulted in several schemes aimed at defrauding the casinos. With table games in such high demand and gambling revenue higher than expected some patrons are apparently hoping to pocket some of the action.
Last week state police arrested two men and are trying to identify a third man that may have been involved in a scheme to switch chips at the Mount Airy Casino in the Poconos.
Antonio D. Bultron of Illinois and Jairo R. Abreu of the Dominican Republic were arrested at a roulette wheel inside the casino on August 21 for their part in a scheme to steal $4,800.
According to state police one man purchased $1 chips from the roulette table and handed them off to another man who purchased $25 chips that were of the same color. Once the $25 chips were placed on the table the man mixed the $1 chips in the pile so that they would all be cashed in at the $25 value.
The men are being charged with various counts of fraud, using fraud to win cash, receiving stolen property, conspiracy and conspiracy to commit theft.
