MGM Resorts International, through the MGM Hospitality division has named additions to the management team to help rebrand the company and meet the growing demand for MGM branded properties including MGM Grand, Bellagio and Skylofts in the Middle East/North Africa and Asia-Pacific regions.
Michael Sagild will direct MGM Hospitality’s Asia-Pacific development activities from Hong Kong and David Vely will pursue new opportunities for MGM Hospitality in the Middle East/North Africa region from Dubai.
“There’s a growing appetite globally to bring the refined luxury, excitement and service standards synonymous with the MGM Hospitality brand to leading international hotel and resort destinations,’’ said Michael Evans, MGM Hospitality Executive Vice President of Global Development.
Over the past several years MGM has teetered on the brink of possible bankruptcy while developing the Las Vegas CityCenter. Now, MGM will use non-gaming resorts through contracts in Sanya, Chengdu and Tianjin, China; Cairo and Sharm El-Sheikh, Egypt; Abu Dhabi and Dubai, United Arab Emirates; and Ho Tram, Vietnam to help sustain the life of the company and counter the slump of the casino industry.
