Isle of Capri Casinos will present its final application to Missouri regulators before next week’s deadline with the support of Cape Girardeau city officials.
Last night City Council members met in a special closed door session to vote on two proposals submitted by Isle of Capri Casinos and St. Louis Capital Partners, both who are looking to bring a casino to the area.
Earlier this year a study showed that Cape Girardeau would be the best suited for the states final casino as it was far enough away from other casinos that it would not jeopardize current operations.
The application due by September 1 will have the full support of the city although voters must still decide this fall if they will continue to support a casino.
Isle of Capri said in July that they would bring a 125,000 to 135,000 square foot gaming complex to the city and wanted to be an integral part of Cape Girardeau and help promote growth throughout the city.
If Isle of Capri wins the licensing the casino could be operational by 2012.
