As Pennsylvania gaming regulators begin conducting public input hearings over the four groups looking to develop a category III casino one contender is hoping that its partnership will put them ahead of the others, this time around.
The Bushkill Group has submitted an application for the state’s remaining category III resort casino license for the second time in the past three years, however this time they say that they have Penn National Gaming on their side.
In April Penn National agreed to join the project and provide financing and management to the operation if they won approval from gaming regulators. This partnership, Bushkill says will show the Board that they now have stable and secure financial strength which was the reason their 2007 application was rejected.
Bushkill is proposing adding a casino with 600 slot machines and 50 live table games to the 80 years old Fernwood Hotel & Resort in the Poconos.
The first hearing for the proposal is scheduled for September 2.
