Thanks to House Financial Services Committee Chairman Barney Frank and his Internet Gambling Regulation, Consumer Protection, and Enforcement Act, or HR 2267; online gambling could soon become legal in the United States.
With last week’s committee hearings being a huge success for the new legislation, Frank admits that his bill still has an up-hill climb before it passed in both the House and the Senate.
Frank has recently pointed out that, although HR 2267 has started its progression on Capitol Hill, the fight is not over. In fact it has really only just begun.
In an interview with a popular Internet gambling news organization, the Democrat from Massachusetts is calling upon everyone who is in favor of lifting the ban on online games like poker to let their voices be heard.
Frank’s mission from the beginning has been and shall remain accommodating “the freedom of American citizens.” His stance has always been that citizens of the United States should be allowed the right to do what they want on the Internet.
He is urging people, especially online poker players, to call their Congressmen and Senators in support of this bill.
“We need to hear from people,” said Frank.
He is sure the opposition will be doing the same.
