The British Columbia lottery has re-launched its online casino site after a month of being shut down, however some gamblers are still experiencing difficulties.
In mid July the B.C. Lottery Corp launched North America’s first ever legal and government sponsored internet gambling site only to have it shut down within hours due to technical difficulties, it was a week later that players learned that a security breach was responsible.
More than 100 player accounts were viewed by other gamblers and in some cases wagers were even placed on other’s credits.
Although, the Privacy Commissioner and the Gaming Policy and Enforcement division approved the site to re-launch at 7pm on Thursday, it wasn’t until after 2 am on Friday morning that the site came back on line.
In fact most of the day on Friday, users reported having difficulties accessing their accounts. The B.C. Lottery Corp said that the issues were not related to continued security issues but difficulties that would be associated with any large site getting off the ground.
