Twenty one year old Annette Obrestad will be playing in her first U.S. World Series of Poker Main Event this week in Las Vegas.
At the age of 19, this native Norwegian won her first World Series of Poker Europe bracelet in London in 2007, however she was too young to play legally in the states.
Though only 21, Obrestad has years of poker experience under her belt. He began her poker career playing online at the age of fifteen in “no entry fee tournaments.”
She insists that she never made any cash deposits and was able to win hundreds of thousands of dollars with no initial investment.
Leading up to the Main Event, Obrestad has cashed in four WSOP events; numbers 17, 26, 39 and 50. She racked up just under $40,000 in prize money in the month of June alone.
The fans have really gravitated toward Obrestad thus far. It may be a little distracting, however she feels that it is nothing she can not handle.
“I’m getting used to the fact that people know who I am,” Obrestad said. “I’ve signed more autographs than I ever imagined.”
