Casinos all over are looking for ways to utilize the smart phone technology and market themselves through unique apps. Las Vegas has an app for navigating through sin city while casinos from Michigan to Vegas have released apps that showcase their facilities and provide player club members access to their accounts while away from the casino.
This week, American Wagering Inc has received regulatory approval from Nevada regulators to launch their own app that works in connection with approximately 60 Leroy’s Horse and Sports Place sports book operations throughout the state.
What makes this app unique is that it is the first app that allows legal online gambling within the United States.
The application will only be available at first on BlackBerry devises, but will allow sports fans to place bets on college football, NFL games and other sporting events from anywhere in Nevada directly from the phone.
The user simply appears at one of Leroy’s sports books to open an account and register their devise. A GPS program reads the phones cellular tower coordinates to determine that user is within Nevada borders before allowing bets to be placed.
American Wagering Inc says that additional apps will be released in the future for use on other smart phone devises, however each app must be approved individually.
