More than 400 employees responsible for shutting down table games and reducing the number of hours the Casino Regina was open are set to return to work.
The Canadian casino owned by Saskatchewan Gaming Corporation shut down 35 gaming tables and the poker room when casino employees went on strike seven weeks ago over failed negotiations with union representatives.
The Public Service Alliance of Canada and the casino were able to reach a settlement over night-shift premiums, family leave and pay increases sending 450 dealers, slot attendants, security and food and beverage personnel back to work and the casino to resume normal hours and gaming operations.
Casino officials said that business as usual would be resumed on Tuesday, although the casinos 750 slot machines remained open during the strike.
“We are absolutely delighted,” said Jan Carter, casino spokesperson. “It’s been a long strike with a lot of hardships for them. I think it’s disappointing to all parties the strike did go on this long and it’s too bad.”
